Welcome to La Mercè! The main festival of Barcelona brings the celebrations to all the districts of the city and you will be able to access the events without leaving your neighborhood.
The celebrations will take place on September 24, 26 and 27, with proposals ranging from street arts to dance, circus, popular culture and, in this edition, even theater. Everything will happen closer to home, since La Mercè is approaching the neighborhoods this year, occupying new spaces and proposing activities closer to citizens, you can also follow some events on television.
You will find stages around half the city: from the old Modelo prison to the Olympic Ring, passing through the Fabra i Coats, the Fòrum Park or the Park Güell, also taking into account that at The George Payne we will also be celebrating La Mercè as every year. And on these stages, more than a hundred bands and soloists, including three symphonic formations that will once again occupy the Plaza Major de Nou Barris.
La Mercè 2020 will be held with special security measures and physical distancing. The celebrations will take place during the day (from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.), mass events will be avoided and, to participate in the activities, you will have to register. This year there will be no mass concerts or traditional activities such as correfoc or castle performances, but, on the other hand, La Mercè will be much more present in the programming of betevé (tv), the party’s official communication medium, and will be extended to many more points of the city, so that you will surely have scheduled activities close to home and you will not even need to take the metro to experience La Mercè intensely.
At The George Payne we will be waiting for you with a very cold Guinness and the best appetizers in Barcelona.
